A Review of Spoons in McKinney

Spoons Cafe in McKinney

If you are within driving distance to McKinney Texas and have never been to Spoons Cafe, you are missing out. Spoons Cafe is on the historical square in McKinney and has some of the best food you will find. Its usually crowded and for good reason! The wait time is usually not too bad, but plan ahead if you are going at prime time for crowds.  (Spoons on Google Maps)

Karen Klassen owns the place and has a blog herself that’s well worth reading, its appropriately called Stirring It Up. I have always loved the food she provides us with and the funky and cool style she uses to decorate her restaurants. I recently started reading her blog and started to get some insight into her as a person and wanted to share a quote from one of her posts.

What is becoming so much clearer to me as I go along this path of awareness is to recognize God in the small things that he blesses me with, not just the burning bushes. How he is with me even in my grocery shopping if I am willing to recognize it and accept it. I am learning that He is in the details. He does not mind the details. He has plenty of time. He is God. I get by with a little help from my friends, and a lot from God.

Great food, great place and a great heart for God; man I just love that!

What to Eat?

Ok, on with the food. Were friends right? I mean you trust me and we have been through a lot together right? Ok, well not so much, but trust me on this; just order the Grown Up Grilled Cheese, add bacon, a side of sweet potato fries and then move on to the desserts. Its killer…

Ok, ok I hear you. You doctor would kill you, then me, and then maybe your waiter and that would not be good. Well here are a couple of healthier suggestions. Try  the chicken salad its amazing and a glass of iced tea.

I did really like her King Ranch Chicken, it seems I have tried almost everything on the menu and enjoyed it. Luckily there are plenty of items to choose from so even the kids will find something they like. (kids menu)

Desserts Baby!

Speaking of desserts, Karen has kindly put all her menus online, but the important one is desserts, I have linked to it as Spoons Amazing To Die For Desserts. I have to admit I love her coconut pie, but its the chocolate that calls to me. I honestly think I could eat a whole one.

My advice is this, go to Spoons when you are hungry. Order darn near anything on the menu, since its all good, and then get pie. Everybody loves pie! When your done, be sure to come back and comment below and tell me what you ordered and how it was.

Thanks and enjoy your meal!
